DoH hands over responsibility for pay

Article Abstract:

National Health Service (UK) (NHS) Employers, one of the NHS organizations, has taken the responsibility from the UK Department of Health (DoH) for negotiating the pay deals of nurses, doctors and other NHS staff with the appropriate unions. Pay and conditions, improving working lives, NHS careers and health and safety guidance are some of the areas that the NHS employers is expected to take over from the DoH.

Nurses will not sign up to patient contracts: the nurse-patient relationship could suffer if the government goes ahead with plans to develop patient contracts

Article Abstract:

A proposed rule requiring patients to sign a document that they promise to make healthy lifestyle changes in exchange for quality health care is opposed by nurses and patient advocacy experts. They see the contract as a form of coercion and feel that those who do not sign the contract will receive substandard care.

Drug companies are aware of nurses' ability to prescribe drugs and they target these nurses to sell their products. Nurses will have to deal with drug companies on a regular basis.
