Esophageal atresia in the Northern Region Congenital Anomaly Survey, 1985-1997: prenatal diagnosis and outcome

Article Abstract:

Babies born with esophageal atresia have a poor prognosis. Esophageal atresia is a defect in the esophagus that is very difficult to diagnose prenatally. In one study, 22% of babies born with this condition died and another 21% had serious complications during the first two years of life.

Aberrant right subclavian artery as a new cardiac sign in second- and third-trimester fetuses with Down syndrome

Article Abstract:

The study assesses the possibility of the detection of an aberrant right subclavian artery in fetuses with Down syndrome. The study suggests that the in utero identification of an aberrant right subclavian artery might be a new ultrasound marker to be found in fetuses with Down syndrome.
