Examining theoretic models of adherence for validity in resource-limited settings: A heuristic approach

Article Abstract:

A heuristic schema for examining the validity of conceptual models of adherence in resource-limited settings is presented. Before applying existing models in new sociocultural contexts, they should be examined for validity and adapted as necessary for a good fit to offer a set of practical conceptual tools for examining adherence models for cross-cultural validity.

Antiretroviral therapy, Hepatitis C virus, and AIDS mortality among San Francisco's homeless and marginally housed

Article Abstract:

Mortality in most HIV-infected populations has declined but yet remains high among those with barriers to accessing antiretroviral (ARV) therapy. Sustained ARV treatment significantly reduces the risk of death among the homeless.

Provider assessment of adherence to HIV antiretroviral therapy

Article Abstract:

Many doctors do not accurately assess an HIV patient's compliance with drug therapy. Asking patients if they missed any doses may be a better measure of patient compliance.
