Farm safety finds a home in the heartland

Article Abstract:

The National Education Center for Agricultural Safety in Iowa is designed to instruct agricultural populations on how to increase safety in their farms by providing intensive and practical agricultural safety and health training programs. The center is also reaching out to people who work with and sell products and services and rescue workers who provide medical assistance to farmers. Its managing director, former agricultural safety teacher Sam Steel, believes that agricultural hazards can be avoided by working carefully and arming one's self with proper safety equipment.

Even safety follows the leader

Article Abstract:

Upper management has the responsibility to set good examples for their employees, especially in the area of safety and health. Top executives can influence their workers to increase their awareness on safety and health issues by showing commitment to initiatives that promote safety and health in the work environment. Commitment entails direct involvement, cooperation and expression of concern for the welfare of employees. Action and not just words is the key to a successful corporate safety and health programs.

Safety success stories

Article Abstract:

Several firms share their secrets of success as the country celebrates the month of June as the National Safety Month. Southern Graphics Systems Inc, a National Safety Council award-winner, attributes its safety success to the exemplary safety involvement of its employees. The firm prides in the concern each employee displays in the workplace. Alliant Techsystems Inc credits the firm's safety consciousness to the symbiotic concern exhibited between management and employees.
