Fight fraud

Article Abstract:

Healthcare fraud endangers patient care and saps the system of needed financial resources. Every physician who witnesses instances of healthcare fraud should report them via the American Medical Assn's fraud hotline. This information is relayed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which promises to provide 450 agents for full-time healthcare fraud inquiries. The AMA opposes the use of fines to finance investigations and rewards.

Moment of truth leads to escape from capitation 'gulag.'(physicians confront corruption and profit motive in medical practice)(My Opinion)(Column)

Article Abstract:

A doctor describers how managed care systems have led physicians to consider how medical decisions could affect their income. The physician had always prided himself on providing quality care and being so honest about treatments he refused to lie to insurance companies or patients, yet he found himself practicing self-deception when making some minor medical decisions. Problems with the managed care system are discussed.
