Early retirees often caught uninsured

Article Abstract:

High health care costs are causing some companies to drop their retirees from their health care plants. Early retirees face problems because they are too young for Medicare and may be in poor health which makes private insurance costs astronomical. Employers of 500 or more workers who dropped health benefits for early retirees increased from 40% in 1993 to 46% in 1996.
