Follow a recipe for kitchen safety

Article Abstract:

The kitchen is responsible for more non-fatal injuries than any other room in the house. Modern kitchens contain many potentially dangerous gadgets, such as slicers, knives, toxic cleaners and flammable liquids. Fire and burn injuries are among the most common kitchen accidents. Sensible precautions can be taken to lessen the likelihood of accidents. Cooking should never be left unattended, smoke detectors should be installed, worn flooring should be replaced and sharp knives should be held correctly.

Electric current: a new scare for the '90s

Article Abstract:

Various studies are being made to determine if exposure to electromagnetic fields from power lines, video terminals and electric blankets can cause cancer, miscarriages, birth defects and depression. Since studies still prove to be inconclusive, it is better to adopt convenient and cheap measures that would lessen exposure to electromagnetic fields which include maintaining a certain distance from power lines and appliances.
