Four-star service

Article Abstract:

NHS patients in London are being sheltered in a four-star hotel, which is a one-minute walk from the hospital, between life-saving chemotherapy treatment, as part of a pilot project at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This pioneering approach, run by a team of haematology nurses helps to free up precious hospital beds and also gives patients a break from the ward environment.

Learning to breathe again

Article Abstract:

A new breathlessness clinic is helping patients to cope with the terror of lung disease, like lung cancer or chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD). The main role of respiratory nurse is to improve the quality of life, educate patients about their illness and teach a variety of simple techniques to help patients control the disease rather than allowing the disease to control them.

Treating the untreatable

Article Abstract:

A specific group of people is present in the UK that could not be cured or have a very little hope of recovery. Nurses at the Thames Valley Personality Disorder Service are giving hope to these patients by providing with intensive long-term treatment and work with a team of social workers and therapists.
