G-CSF induces E-selectin ligand expression on human myeloid cells

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate the molecular basis of clinical use of G-CSF which could result in vascular and inflammatory complications by analyzing the adherence of G-CSF-mobilized human peripheral blood leukocytes (ML) to inflamed (TNF-[alpha]-stimulated) vascular endothelium. The data indicate that the expression of E-selectin ligand on ML might reflect a direct G-CSF effect, as exposure to pharmacologically relevant G-CSF concentrations in vitro resulted in increase in expression of pertinent glycosyltransferases.

Progenitor cell trafficking is regulated by hypoxic gradients through HIF-1 induction of SDF-1

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted using a model of soft-tissue ischema in athymic nude mice to investigate the potential impact of reduced oxygen tension on SDF-1 regulation. The result reveals that a marked increase in SDF-1 mRNA in ischemic tissue after surgery was directly proportional to the reduction in tissue oxygen tension, and resulted in a similar increase in SDF-1 protein expression.
