Getting on the same track

Article Abstract:

The Congress of the Medicine/Public Health Initiative held in Chicago in March 1996 addressed the need for the medical and public health fields to communicate and collaborate towards common ends. Recommendations included changing the training regimens of medical and public health professionals, conceiving a mutually-inclusive perception of illness, and developing collaborative bodies for the purpose of deliberation and research. The American Medical Association was the event's principal sponsor.

Socialized care wrong? 'Corporatized' not much better

Article Abstract:

The continuation of 'corporatized' medicine is not much more appealing than the 'socialized' medicine that some sources threatened would take place under major health care reform. In a market where costs are rising rapidly, increasing numbers of Americans go without any healthcare coverage at all. Insurance companies and hospital corporations, instead of the government, are controlling issues in the private health care sector.
