Glucocorticoids can promote androgen-independent growth of prostate cancer cells through a mutated androgen receptor

Article Abstract:

Research on the effects of androgen receptors on the development of prostate cancer is presented. New forms of therapy may be developed based on an understanding of the stimulation of CaP cell growth by cortisol and cortisone, and by recognizing the presence of glucocorticoid-responsive androgen receptor mutants.

Proteomics: basic research climbs aboard

Article Abstract:

The three year funding of the laser-capture microdissection and new anti-cancer drug studies by the United States National Cancer Institute and The Food and Drugs Administration is analyzed by the author. The goals of the Clinical Proteomics Program which helps the companies to determine the beneficial and the toxic effects of the treatments in the labs first are discussed.
