Growth-hormone-releasing factor for growth hormone deficiency

Article Abstract:

Sermorelin acetate has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children. Sold under the trade name Geref, it is a synthetic form of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). GHRH stimulates the production of growth hormone. The drug was effective in several studies of children with growth hormone deficiency. While initial growth may be substantial, growth levels off when the drug is used for long periods of time. It is not as effective as synthetic growth hormone but costs about half as much.

GlucoWatch Biographer: a noninvasive glucose monitoring device

Article Abstract:

The FDA has approved the GlucoWatch Biographer for monitoring blood sugar but the Medical Letter does not recommend the device. It is worn like a watch but is expensive, may not be accurate, and must be calibrated against a fingerstick reading every 12 hours.
