Hereditary diffuse gastric cancer: predominance of multiple foci of signet ring cell carcinoma in distal stomach and transitional zone

Article Abstract:

The size and distribution of foci in relation to mucosal zones and anatomical location is described. Approximately 4-318 microscopic foci of intramucosal signet ring cell adenocarcinoma with the size of 0.1-10 mm in diameter were found in the six macroscopically normal stomachs.

p27(super kip 1) regulates the apoptotic response of gastric epithelial cells to Helicobacter pylori

Article Abstract:

The role of low level of p27 protein in the resistance to apoptosis of gastric cancer cells is examined. Low gastric p27 inhibits apoptotic pathways and promotes gastric carcinogenesis associated with helicobacter pylori.

Clinical implications of E-cadherin associated hereditary diffuse gastric cancer

The diagnosis and risks associated with hereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC) are discussed. E-cadherin (CDH1) mutations are linked to HDGC.
