Human and microbe: United we stand

Article Abstract:

An examination of the collective genomes, the 'microbiome' of the bacteria in the large intestine and a comparison of this collection to other microbial and human genomes reveal that the human gut microbiome encodes numerous metabolic pathways important for normal human metabolism. The findings highlight the diversity and interdependency on the resident microbiodata, and lay the groundwork for further exploring this relationship in health and disease.

Alzheimer disease

Article Abstract:

A survey was conducted among 34 leading scientists to assess what they felt the most important findings have been since 2003. 95% related Alzheimers to the processing or pathogenesis of amyloid-beta, a peptide that clumps to form extra cellular plaques in the brain that characterize the disease, while some scientists suggested that research needs an invasion of new ideas and sufficient funding from governmental agencies and pharmaceutical companies.
