Outcomes at school age after postnatal dexamethasone therapy for lung disease of prematurity

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted among the school age children, some of whom were under the dexamethasone group whilst others were under the control group, who had undergone early postnatal dexamethasone therapy. The results showed that children who underwent the dexamethasone therapy for the prevention or for the treatment of chronic lung disease had bad effects on neuromotor and cognitive function of the children at school age than those who were under the controlled group.

Pulmonary-artery versus central venous catheter to guide treatment of acute lung inquiry

Article Abstract:

The relationship of benefits and risks of pulmonary-artery catheters (PACs) in patients with established acute lung injury is evaluated and a randomized trial is conducted by using an explicit hemodynamic protocol obtained by either PAC or a central venous pressure (CVP). The results have shown that the PAC should not be routinely used for the management of acute lung injury.
