Predictors of nonadherence to single-dose nevirapine therapy for the prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission

Article Abstract:

The predictors and extent of non-adherence to single-dose nevirapine are investigated to ensure the proper adherence for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (pMTCT) programs to be effective. The results show that the place of birth and the poor health status of the newborn highly affect the nonadherence, which can be minimized by using nevirapine in the clinical protocols as well as the pMTCT programs.
