An introduction to providing cognitive behavioral therapy

Article Abstract:

The theory of practicing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and some of the intervention techniques commonly used by CBT psychotherapists are presented, along with an analysis of psychotherapies practiced in the NHS and training requirements for different levels of CBT psychotherapy. CBT is recommended for those with a diagnosis of anxiety and panic disorder, depression, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, self-harm and schizophrenia, anger and pain management.

Promoting service users' recovery

Article Abstract:

Mental health nurses focus attention on minimizing the time, service users spend as inpatients, and boost the coping skills of patients, who have long-term problems. Modern mental health services increasingly recognize that service users, need close support from professionals, who they trust, and the nurses are presently able to focus on interventions such as relapse prevention, cognitive behaviour therapy and one-to-one time addressing basic problem-solving.

Training for crisis resolution home treatment teams

Article Abstract:

Some important changes made to short training courses of the mental health workforce in crisis resolution are described. The new training course emphasizes on teamwork and relationship between trainers and the team, correct assessment of the patient, good decision making ability, dual diagnosis and social inclusion.
