Improved perinatal outcomes with perinatal case management

Article Abstract:

A study of 231 women shows comprehensive perinatal case management reduces infant mortality rates and increases the number of healthy births.Comprehensive perinatal case management focuses on individualized care and coordinates various health and community services to ensure a positive outcome for the mother, child and family. Case management responds to, rather than prevents, high-risk family conditions such as abuse.

Evaluating a State Agency's Case Management Services

Evaluation of medical case management in the state agency setting revealed important discoveries in the development and implementation of programs. The primary issue was to ensure uniform data collection from a wide range of programs with distinct administrative structures. Monitoring system models should address this potential problem to avoid inefficient policy making based on inaccurate information.

Improving cancer pain management using a performance improvement framework

The article describes a performance improvement framework for cancer pain nursing and management, based on total quality management principles. The approach, designed to train oncological nurses, offers a three-day curriculum covering subjects such as historical perspectives on pain, physiology, pain assessment, cultural and spiritual issues, and non-pharmacological methods for controlling pain.
