Industrial burns don't play favorites

Article Abstract:

Burns occur in every industry despite the adoption of preventive measures such as careful machinery maintenance and protective clothing. However, having adequate knowledge of first-aid procedures can greatly minimize injuries arising from thermal, electrical or chemical burns. Among the most important considerations in adminestering first-aid to burn cases are an assessment of the burn's severity, pain-relief and the prevention of infection and shock.

Why managers buy in to safety

Article Abstract:

Managers can obtain the support of other departments and higher officials in the firm by stressing the needs and safety record of the company. Safety must be a top priority in a firm's goals aside from other factors such as profits or costs. A properly designed safety program can translate to future savings in terms of compensation and indirect costs. A good safety program can also enhance the firm's public image and decrease employee turnover.
