Integrating heterogeneous pieces of evidence in systematic reviews

Article Abstract:

Differing research methods can complicate how researchers combine varying data sets into a meaningful presentation. Differences in study populations, response definitions, or treatment methods may be some complicating factors when combining data from different research studies. Statistical strategies for weighing and presenting these variations have been highlighted including the use of tables, confidence profiles, and decision analyses. Identifying a narrowly defined study objective can be helpful when combining varying data sets.

Sound clinical advice for hypertensive patients

Article Abstract:

A very-low-salt diet is probably not feasible for most Americans. But if they eat fruits and vegetables, avoid salty snack foods, and stop using table salt, they can achieve a fairly low-salt diet. A diet based on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, and fish can also lower blood pressure.
