Interaction of KAI1 on tumor cells with DARC on vascular endothelium leads to metastasis suppression

Article Abstract:

A coimmunoprecipitation experiment was carried out using a highly metastatic prostate carcinoma cell line, AT6.1, which was stably transfected with a flag epitope-tagged DARC gene to examine the interaction of KAI1 and DARC in mammalian cells. The experimental results show that the cancer cells expressing KAI1 attach to vascular endothelial cells through direct interaction between KAI1 and DARC, which lead to inhibition of tumor cell proliferation and induction of senescence by modulating the expression of TBX2 and p21.

The membrane - cytoskeleton linker ezrin is necessary for osteosarcoma metastasis

Article Abstract:

A genomic approach led to the identification of metastasis - associated genesis in cancer and the selection of the ezrin, a membrane - cytoskeleton linker. The study reveals the necessity for the presence of ezrin for osteosarcoma metastasis.

Tumor-induced anorexia and weight loss are mediated by the TGF-[beta] superfamily cytokine MIC-1

Article Abstract:

The article demonstrates the linear relationship between the macrophage inhibitor cytokine-1 (MIC-1) of the TGF-beta superfamily and anorexia and weight loss observed in cancer patients.
