Interleukin-6, but not relaxin, predicts outcome of rescue cerclage in women with cervical incompetence

Article Abstract:

Investigating the potential roles of intra-amniotic relaxin and IL-6 in women with the diagnosis of cervical incompetence before rescue cerclage by quantitating amniotic fluid relaxin IL-6 concentrations for the prediction of rescue cerclage outcome. Atomic fluid interleukin-6 is increased in patients with cervical incompetence, which suggests that subclinical inflammation may contribute to cervical incompetence.

Oxidative stress in the fetal circulation does not depend on mode of delivery

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to test whether neonates are subjected to oxidative stress is tested by comparing the susceptibility of umbilical blood lipids with copper-induced peroxidation. Umbilical arterial lipids are more susceptible to peroxidation than umbilical venous lipids, indicating high oxidative stress in the fetal circulation irrespective of mode of delivery.

Induction of labor with RU 486 (mifepristone) in relaxin-deficient rats: antepartum administration of relaxin facilitates delivery and increases pup

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine whether antepartum administration of relaxin improves RU 486-induced delivery at term in rats that lack circulating endogenous relaxin. It was concluded that it had beneficial effects on delivery in relaxin-deficient rats.
