Gestational diabetes screening in subsequent pregnancies of previously healthy patients

Article Abstract:

Women who have a normal blood sugar test in their first pregnancy will probably not develop gestational diabetes in a subsequent pregnancy even if they have one or more risk factors. This was the conclusion of a study of 381 such women, none of whom developed gestational diabetes in a subsequent pregnancy.

Jelly beans as an alternative to a fifty-gram glucose beverage for gestational diabetes screening

Article Abstract:

Jelly beans can be used instead of the 50-gram glucose drink that is normally used to diagnose women with diabetes during pregnancy. Many women develop side effects from the drink, including nausea, vomiting, headache, and dizziness. In a study of 136 women, jelly beans produced fewer side effects and were preferred by 76% of the women.
