'Life begins' for Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging - research group has 40th birthday

Article Abstract:

On its 40th birthday, the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging is planning research on the molecular and genetic aspects of aging. The study, which began in 1958, has followed 2,470 volunteers who come to the Gerontology Research Center in Baltimore, MD, every two years for extensive physiological and psychological tests. One of the most important findings was that many health problems elderly people have are related to age-related diseases rather than the aging process itself. Another interesting finding was that not all intellectual functions decline in old age.

Justice with a differance

Article Abstract:

Traditionally the study of law ignored any ethical or moral dimension and was only concerned with examining the text to establish legal concepts. The two differing approaches to law were kept separated and were seen to be in conflict with each other. External theories looked to discover arguments and reasons for laws whilst internal theories considered the processes which happened in court. New theory not only examines legal texts and cases but uses many other approaches, such as literature, to theorise about the law.
