On the road again; media tour pushes AMA reform message

Article Abstract:

Richard F. Corlin takes the American Medical Association's (AMA) health care reform message on the road giving speeches before AMA members at various locations in the US. He invites physicians to join the AMA to avoid lower salaries and reduced independence, if Pres Clinton's proposed health care reform does not follow the AMA's stance. According to Corlin, the AMA is for cost containment but it will not tolerate a price freeze on health care.

Weighing an answer on reform

Article Abstract:

Several guidelines can be used to evaluate the Clinton administration's health care plan. For example, it is important to consider whether or not the plan is financially fair to both patients and physicians. Other useful criteria include whether the plan ensures patients' freedom of physician choice, whether it will succeed over time and whether it is best for patients.
