Lower urinary tract injury during the Burch procedure: is there a role for routine cystoscopy?

Article Abstract:

Cystoscopy should be used during all surgeries for urinary incontinence to see if the surgery has damaged the bladder or the ureters. Cystoscopy involves using an endoscope to examine the bladder during surgery. In a study of 109 patients, 9% were injured during surgery for stress incontinence.

Local anesthesia with sedation for transvaginal correction of advanced genital prolapse

Article Abstract:

A study to evaluate local anesthesia with sedation for vaginal surgery for advanced genital prolapse is presented. It is found that local anesthesia with sedation can be successfully employed for most vaginal reconstructive surgeries with advanced genital prolapse.

Abdominal sacral suspensions: Analysis of complications using permanent mesh

Article Abstract:

A study to determine the complication rates of abdominal sacral suspensions (ASC) using polypropylene mesh is presented. ASC with polypropylene mesh is a safe surgical procedure for vaginal vault prolapse with low complication rates.
