Rectoceles and the anatomy of the posterior vaginal wall: Revisited

Article Abstract:

A study to histologically evaluate the posterior aspect of the pelvis, specifically, the relationship between the perineum, posterior vagina, anterior rectum and all other intervening tissue is presented. Histologically, there is no evidence of a distinct fascial layer between the posterior vaginal wall and anterior wall of the rectum.

A randomized trial comparing methods of vaginal cuff closure at vaginal hysterectomy and the effect on vaginal length

Article Abstract:

A randomized trial is undertaken to compare the effect of horizontal versus vertical closure of the vaginal cuff during vaginal hysterectomy on vaginal length. Results suggest that vertical closure of the vaginal cuff is superior to horizontal closure for the purpose of preserving vaginal length.
