Mad to work here...

Article Abstract:

A UK National Health Service (NHS) trust launched a scheme in 1995 to offer employment, with all its accompanying benefits, to people with a history of mental illness. The Pathfinder Mental Health Services NHS Trust in London bases its User Employment Project on a Colorado project. It employs 13 people with diagnoses of psychiatric illness as nursing assistants in the community and in hospitals. The scheme provides practical and psychiatric support for the employee, and initially employs on a part-time basis, although two employees have moved on to full-time posts.
