Med PAC recommends 2.5% pay increase for next year

Article Abstract:

The report by Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (Med PAC) recommended the Congress on March 2003 to bring a rise of 2.5% in physician payment by 2004 taking into consideration the inflation in doctorEs costs, such as time and effort, liability insurance premiums, and practice expenses. Med PAC continues to evaluate changes in the volume of services provided by physicians to determine payment adequacy.

Resource-based relative value scale (RBRVS) is termed as a common language for negotiating physician fees. Although the RBRVS is complex, practices can use basic strategies to protect physicians interests and to negotiate favorable agreements.
