N.J., Ohio Blues deals come under renewed scrutiny

Article Abstract:

Legislators and consumer groups in New Jersey and Ohio are concerned about the implications of proposed mergers between state Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and investor-owned health partners. Consumer groups in New Jersey are asserting that the merger will limit the nonprofit plan's charitable obligation to the state. Legislators in Ohio are drafting legislation which would require public disclosure of documents related to the merger.
