Mixed patterns of changes in central and peripheral fat following initiation of antiretroviral therapy in a randomized trial

Article Abstract:

Changes in regional fat measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and circumferences over 64 weeks in HIV-infected individuals initiating their first antiretroviral regimen are examined. A mixed pattern of changes in central and peripheral fat over the first 64 weeks after initiation of antiretroviral therapy is observed and the changes were correlated positively, as were changes in waist and hip circumferences.

Incidence of pancreatitis in HIV-1-infected individuals enrolled in 20 adult AIDS clinical trials group studies: Lessons learned

Article Abstract:

A report on the incidence of clinical and laboratory defined pancreatitis in HIV-1-infected individuals treated with antiretrovirals (ARVs) is presented. The principal findings are that the combination of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) selected and the pancreatitis definition chosen seem to have an impact on the incidence of pancreatitis.

Predictors of antiretroviral-related hepatotoxicity in the adult AIDS Clinical Trial Group (1989 - 1999)

Article Abstract:

A retrospective analysis was conducted on 16 United States AIDS Clinical Trials Group to understand predictors of severe hepatotoxicity (SH). It was seen that Hepatitis C virus coinfection was associated with an increased risk of SH.
