Monoculture-derived T lymphocytes specific for multiple viruses expand and produce clinically relevant effects in immunocompromised individuals

Article Abstract:

The genetic modification of antigen-presenting cell lines which facilitate the production of CD[4.sup.+] and CD[8.sup.+] T lymphocytes specific for cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and several serotypes of adenovirus from a single cell culture is described. When administered to immunocompromised individuals, the single T lymphocyte line expands into multiple discrete virus-specific populations that supply clinically measurable antiviral activity.

Hitchhiker's guide to the T cell

Article Abstract:

A hitchhiking concept, in which tumor-specific T cells are surface-loaded with viruses that transfer immune-modulating genes to tumor cells, is described. In this strategy the T cells could provide targeting to the retrovirus vector, and the vector could encode or induce immune-stimulatory signals that promote T-cell activation and function.

Targeting calcineurin activation as a therapeutic strategy for T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Article Abstract:

The observation of sustained calcineurin activation in human-B and T-cell lymphomas showed that calcineurin activation is critical for the maintenance of the leukemic phenotype in vivo, as a identifying it as a pathway relevant to therapeutic target in lymphoid malignancies.
