Muscling in at the gym

Article Abstract:

Nurse, Caz Lack, runs a health clinic for body builders at a gym in London, United Kingdom. Ms Lack advises the men, many of whom take anabolic steroids, on lipid levels, safe sex, how to carry out basic health checks and also does blood tests to monitor the effect of the steroids on their liver and their hormone count. She does not tell the men not to use steroids but makes sure they know what the effects will be on their bodies and on their personalities. She also supplies clean needles because some men inject the steroids.

Shop steward to steward of the Lord

Article Abstract:

A nurse tells of how her deep Christian beliefs encouraged her to become a trade union activist during the days of the UK's 1964-70 Labour government. She became a shop steward of the Royal College of Nurses and on one occasion met the then minister of employment Barbara Castle to lobby for pay improvements. She believes her concerns about social justice arise from her strong Christian faith.
