Nurses' prescribing rights will be no threat to patient safety

Article Abstract:

The delegates of NHS Alliance stated that the doctorEs fears of opening up the formulary would see nurses prescribing outside their area of expertise are unfounded. Plans were made to strengthen nurse education and professional development to gain full prescribing rights, for patient's safety.

Leigh Chislett, a nurse had developed an effective vaccine against Hepatitis B by identifying barriers to vaccine uptake and tackled them head-on with nurse-led, user-friendly ways of delivering the immunization. His response to the problem and advice on Hepatitis B vaccination are detailed.
