Nurses split over physician assistants

Article Abstract:

Medical care practioners (MCPs) or physician assistants will be trained in each strategic health authority in a scheme which aims to standardize the development of medical support roles. The plan has created fears that nurses will be lured away from nursing roles and RCN will be pressing the government to put further resources into nurse practitioner roles at the same time as bringing in the new MCPs.

Methods of meeting patients' cancer information needs

Article Abstract:

Cancer information specialists will be irreplaceable in helping to determine what information a patient needs, in what format and at what time, and how those needs change during the cancer journey. With the introduction of cancer information specialists it may be hoped that nurses will be alleviated of some of the burden of maintaining stocks of cancer publications within the unit.
