Obstructive sleep apnea: diagnosis, medical management and dental implications

Article Abstract:

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can pose a very serious health hazard. OSA is regarded as a disruption in normal sleep practices combined with daytime symptoms. The symptoms, treatment, medical management, OSA's relation with dental treatments and how the dentists should face such problems are presented.

The impact of a brief tobacco-use cessation intervention in public health dental clinics

Article Abstract:

A tobacco-use cessation program delivered via public health dental practitioners to public health dental patients is evaluated. The viability and effectiveness of delivering a tobacco intervention to low-income smokers via public dental practitioners is suggested.

A study examining the informed therapeutic decisions made by dentists, by assimilation of evidence is presented. This assimilation requires, knowledge of the quality of the evidence and its translation into clinical practice.
