Olivieri to testify against Apotex in Europe

Article Abstract:

The author describes the grievance filed by Nancy Olivieri and others against Canadian drug manufacturer Apotex over the effects of his drugs for thalassemia and the University of Toronto for its role in the affair and for the infringement on the academic freedom. The author notes that Olivieri's dispute with Apotex and the University shown no signs of abating.

Hate-mail author trapped by DNA

Article Abstract:

A forensic laboratory hired by faculty at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children used DNA fingerprinting to determine that one of their colleagues was responsible for hate-mail they received. The hate-mail resulted from a fallout among faculty members who tested a treatment for thalassemia in a trial sponsored by the drug's manufacturer.

Grey-lethal mutation induces severe malignant autosomal recessive osteoporosis in mouse and human

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that a deletion mutation in the grey-lethal gene leads to a complete loss of its function, which causes a coat color defect and a recessive form of osteoporosis in mice. In humans, the same gene mutation leads to severe recessive osteoporosis.
