Pain from copper intrauterine device insertion: Randomized trial of prophylactic ibuprofen

Article Abstract:

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial is conducted to determine whether 400 mg of prophylactic ibuprofen can alleviate pain from insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD) and to measure level of pain with improved techniques. The pain from IUD insertion is found to be very less and prophylactic ibuprofen as used in this protocol does not reduce IUD insertion pain.

Treatment of nonatypical and atypical endometrial hyperplasia with a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system

Article Abstract:

A frameless intrauterine drug delivery system can be used to treat a uterine disease called endometrial hyperplasia, according to a study of 12 women. It consists of a knotted thread attached to a fiber that releases 14 micrograms of levonorgestrel every day. The knot is surgically implanted at the top of the uterus, and the fiber hangs down and is completely flexible.
