Patients with a prior failed transvaginal cerclage: a comparison of obstetric outcomes with either transabdominal or transvaginal cerclage

Article Abstract:

Transabdominal cerclage can be used to prevent premature birth in women who have not benefited from transvaginal cerclage. Cerclage is a procedure to keep the cervix closed so it doesn't open prematurely. It is usually done through the vagina, but can also be done via abdominal surgery.

Cerclage for prevention of preterm birth in women with a short cervix found on transvaginal ultrasound examination: a randomized trial

Article Abstract:

Efficacy of cerclage and bed rest versus bed rest-only for prevention of preterm birth in women with short cervix was studied. It was revealed that cerclage did not prevent preterm birth in women with short cervix as found on transvaginal ultrasound (TVU).
