The HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor simvastatin activates the protein kinase Akt and promotes angiogenesis in normocholesterolemic animals

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that statins in addition to their lipid-lowering activity, also promotes new blood vessel growth via protein kinase Akt activation in endothelial cells. Results show that simvastatin inhibits apoptosis, stimulates vascular structure formation, and enhances Akt signalling activity leading to angiogenesis in normocholesterolemic rabbits.

A new role for Nogo as a regulator of vascular remodeling

Article Abstract:

A proteomic analysis is used to show that Nogo-B is highly expressed in cultured endothelial cells and inhibits migration of vascular smooth muscle cells. Evidence proves that Nogo-B is a regulator of cell migration in vitro and vascular remodeling in vivo.

Adiponectin-mediated modulation of hypertrophic signals in the heart

Article Abstract:

The patients with diabetes and other obesity-linked conditions have increased susceptibility to cardiovascular disorders. The adiponectin is the utility for the treatment of hypertrophic cardiomypathy associated with diabetes and other obesity-related diseases.
