Plan ahead for smooth closure of your practice

Article Abstract:

The closure of a physician's practice is a time-consuming and detailed process that should be planned out ahead of time. Retiring physicians need to set a schedule according to which they will fulfill the necessary requirements of closing their practice. These include contacting professional advisers to plan for retirement, taking care of administrative and professional records, notifying patients, creditors and insurance partners, and collecting unpaid service fees.

Learning to live with electronic billing

Article Abstract:

Physicians will soon have to submit medical claims through a computer system known as electronic data interchange (EDI). Although expensive and time-consuming, converting to this system will save the whole health care industry billions of dollars in the long run. Already, 49% of physicians have electronic billing capability, and the number is growing. The American Medical Assn supports EDI, although it opposes coercing physicians to use it.
