Practice nurses' use of evidence-based research

Article Abstract:

Practice nurses in the UK vary in the extent to which they involve themselves in the prevention of stroke and cardiovascular disease, according to recent research. A study of 1,187 practice nurses revealed that a range of factors inhibited the nurses from acting on the evidence that lifestyle modification can help prevent stroke and heart disease. These factors include lack of access to training and libraries, and nurses' minimal belief in their own ability to influence lifestyle choices.
