Preterm histologic chorioamnionitis: Impact on cord gas and pH values and neonatal outcome

Article Abstract:

The perinatal and neonatal databases of a large tertiary referral patient population are used to delineate the impact of preterm chorioamnionitis on adverse neonatal outcome and also the impact or preterm chorioamnionitis on cord gases and pH vales at birth is examined. The results have shown that infants born with intrauterine infection were better oxygenated and showed less metabolic acidosis at birth and had incidences of respiratory distress syndrome and intraventricular hemorrhage, which were very low.

Chorioamnionitis increases neonatal morbidity in pregnancies complicated by preterm premature rupture of membranes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compare morbidities of neonates born to women who developed chorioamnionitis after premature preterm rupture of membranes versus those who did not. It was concluded that neonatal morbidities were significantly higher among pregnancies with premature preterm rupture of membranes complicated by chorioamnionitis when compared with pregnancies that were not.
