Protecting health: The new research imperative

Article Abstract:

The main challenges involved in achieving protection of the public's health are described. Bold steps need to be taken to transform investments in health protection science, create a truly innovative and shared agenda, and engage the best investigators across all relevant disciplines in its execution in order to achieve the ultimate goal of safe healthy people in a safe and healthy world.

Genetic research and health disparities

Article Abstract:

Racial discrimination and poverty are the major contributors to unequal health status. Genetic research also has a significant role to play in alleviating this problem augmented by several factors like research funding initiatives and the distinct demographic patterns of health disparities in the United States.

A report on the prevalence and incidence of mortality rates among ethnic and racial minorities due to diabetes during the period 1979-2004. The survey was carried out among the population in the age group of 1-19 years.
