Proton NMR analysis of plasma is a weak predictor of coronary artery disease

Article Abstract:

The predictive power of angiographically defined Coronary artery disease (CAD) is determined by comparing groups of men with normal coronary arteries (NCAs) or CAD classified according to whether they were treated with statins. It was shown that [.1.sup.H]-NMR spectroscopy has only weak discriminatory power for detecting CAD in these groups as compared with angiography.

Detecting tumor response to treatment using hyperpolarized [13.sup.C] magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Hyperpolarized [13.sup.C] magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy are used to determine the response of tumor cells to treatment. Results indicate the feasibility of the technique in assessing tumor responses to clinical treatment.

Non-invasive detection of apoptosis using magnetic resonance imaging and a targeted contrast agent

Article Abstract:

Research uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to detect biochemical changes that take place during apoptosis. The article discusses the binding of anionic phospholipids in cell membranes with the C(sub)2 domain of synaptoagmin I.
