QUENSHing that thirst (for integrated management systems)?

Article Abstract:

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published a report entitled 'Total Quality Management (TQM) and the Management of Health and Safety', which is aimed at businesses looking to implement good management standards across the company. Similarly, 'QUENSH - The Future of Business Management Systems' by George Muir and Donald Renfrew examines QUENSH (Quality, Environment, Safety, and Health). An overview of new developments in management systems is given, including details of the integrated management system and QUENSH.

Back to school

Article Abstract:

UK schools must now address a wide range of health and safety issues. They must protect children from the harmful effects of the sun, for example, and must take action to ensure that food offered to children is safe. Furthermore, they are obliged to consider the health and safety of staff, who often work under very stressful conditions. Companies may wish to consider assisting schools with health and safety matters, as this can bring a significant improvement in community relations.
