Randomized, placebo-controlled trial of inactivated poliovirus vaccine in Cuba

Article Abstract:

A trial of inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) was conducted in Cuba to evaluate immunogenicity of IPV in developing country, in absence of circulating wild type of OPV viruses. At least 90 percent seroconversion rate was found for type 1 and 3 polioviruses and lower seroconversion rate for type 2 poliovirus with two or three doses of IPV vaccination.

Early treatment with prednisolone or acyclovir in Bell's palsy

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of an early treatment of the Bell's palsy disease by various corticosteroids and antiviral agents, like prednisolone or acyclovir is discussed. The results show that an early treatment with prednisolone highly improves the chance of complete recovery of the patient in a short span of time.

Use of the inactivated intranasal influenza vaccine and the risk of Bell's palsy in Switzerland

Article Abstract:

A case-control study and case-series analysis is conducted in regions of Switzerland on 773 adult patients of Bell's palsy between October 1, 2000, and April 30, 2001. The results show that the use of the vaccine increases the risk of Bell's palsy in Switzerland.
