Reasons for pre-hospital delay in reporting chest pain

Article Abstract:

Some patients with myocardial infarction (MI) are not receiving hospital treatment at the earliest opportunity because they ignore the chest pain or mistake it for indigestion. It is vital that the British public is informed about MI symptoms and the benefits of early thrombolytic therapy. Nurses are ideally suited to promote public health issues of this nature because of their extensive work in the community.
