Five years to the term breech trial: The rise and fall of a randomized controlled trial

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to demonstrate that the term breech trial (TBT) is based on serious methodological and clinical flaws that do not permit the results to be generalized and that the medical community prematurely adopts the conclusions of the TBT. Results suggest that most cases of neonatal death and morbidity in the TBT cannot be attributed to the mode of delivery, with analysis of outcome after two years showing no difference between vaginal and abdominal deliveries of breech babies.

Risk factors for neonatal mortality among extremely-low-birth-weight infants

Article Abstract:

The characteristics associated with neonatal mortality are examined among extremely low-birth-weight infants. Infants born with severe congenital anomalies and factors such as maternal age of less than 18 years or more than 35 years, vaginal delivery, nontertiary hospital care, malpresentation, male gender and small for gestational age were at the greatest risk for neonatal mortality.
