Rosacea: skin innate immunity gone awry?

Article Abstract:

Scientists have shown that high levels of an antimicrobial peptide and its processing serine protease are features of rosacea lesions, suggesting that aberrant innate immunity is central to this common skin disorder. The therapeutic agents targeting cathelicidin peptides or stratum corneum tryptic enzyme (SCTE) are found to be useful for treating rosacea.

3-Iodothyronamine is an endogenous and rapid-acting derivative of thyroid hormone

Article Abstract:

Thyroxine (T4) is a predominant form of thyroid hormone (TH). Results suggest that the existence of a new signaling pathway, when stimulated leads to quick behavioral and physiological consequences that are opposite to those associated with excess TH.

The two-timing thyroid

Article Abstract:

Thyroid hormone sets the metabolic rate of the body and regulates energetics in multiple organs. Research has revealed that there is potential for a new class of therapeutics to increase or decrease metabolic activity.
